Northview Baptist pastor celebrates 31 years

Pastor Ken Wells will celebrate 31 years as Pastor of Northview Baptist Church on Sunday.
Wells and his wife, Teresa, came to Northview as a newly married couple.
"We had only been married seven months," he said.
"The church had been through a difficult time and it was perfect timing for me to come as Pastor," Ken Wells said.
He was only 23 years old at the time with a degree from Arlington Baptist College. He is a lifetime resident of Lewisville and a graduate of Lewisville High School. Wells had preached around the North Texas area and also served in a volunteer position with First Baptist Church in Lewisville under the leadership of Leonard Molone.
Northview extended an invitation for him to become the pastor in February of 1981 in which he gladly accepted. For his wife it was a homecoming of sorts. She had grown up attending Northview until her high school years in which she served as pianist at FBC, Lewisville. While at the church, Ken completed his Master's Degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Today, Northview has seen significant growth. The attendance currently is close to 700 per Sunday. The church campus has also seen positive changes with the addition of a 600 seat Sanctuary and additional parking and buildings.
"In the beginning, I was the only person on staff," Ken Wells said. "Today we have a great compliment of staff members meeting the needs of various ages and ministries." The church is located at 2021 North Mill Street in Lewisville in the Lake Park area.
