Police seek Bridlewood vandals
By Chris Roark, croark@acnpapers.com
During the past year, Bridlewood has become a target for random acts of vandalism, and Flower Mound police are trying to find out who is doing it.
The police department has received reports of several types of vandalism, including graffiti and stolen sprinkler heads dating back to October of last year.
The most recent report came Thursday night when a suspect, or suspects, tampered with the bunkers at the Bridlewood Golf Course and wrote “A-Town” in large letters in the sand traps.
“We believe that ‘A-Town’ is slang for Argyle,” said Capt. Kurt Labhart of the Flower Mound Police Department. “Based on conversations we’ve been able to have with some kids, Argyle is sometimes referred to as ‘A-Town.’”
Other acts include numerous Christmas decorations getting damaged Dec. 30, 2010, soap being poured into the clubhouse’s hot tub and outdoor furniture being thrown into the pool Nov. 10-11 and Nov. 28 and 15 sprinkler heads being stolen between Nov. 14-21.
“The type of offenses that we are seeing are classified as juvenile types of offenses,” Labhart said. “Furniture on the swimming pool, minor theft … those are things that are not usually gang-related.”
Labhart said these offenses typically occur at night and on weekends or holidays.
“It could be any kid of any area,” Labhart said. “It could be someone from Flower Mound for all we know.”
Police are asking anyone with information to call the anonymous crime tip line at 972-874-3307.
