Highland Village Meetinghouse
The public is invited to tour the newly completed Highland Village Meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 902 North Chinn Chapel Road from 5-6 p.m. Nov. 12.
Toast to Flower Mound Rotary Charities
Wine, food, fun and friends are in store for those attending the event at Celebrations in Highland Village.
Activities will include a wine stroll where guests will sample many fine wines from around the world, and there will also be several courses of exquisite dishes prepared by Salerno's Restaurant. From appetizer to dessert, each course will be paired with a specially matched glass of wine.
Add live music and a live auction, and you've got a recipe for a memorable evening. All proceeds benefit the charities and civic service projects of the Flower Mound Rotary and Rotary International. The speaker will be Mark Davis, the host of a popular radio talk show on WBAP.

Cross Timbers Artists Tour
The Cross Timbers Artists Tour will take place Nov. 12-13. This popular event began 10 years ago as a means to introduce to the public the visual artists who live and work in their communities -- Lewisville, Flower Mound, Double Oak, Copper Canyon and Bartonville.
Fifteen artists will open the doors to their studios in order to share their talent and art. Providing a sense of community pride, the artists will give demonstrations, answer questions and showcase their artwork.
The Cross Timbers Artist Tour will kick off with a reception at the Center for Creative Arts in the MLC Grand Theater from 7-10 p.m. Nov. 11. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 12 from noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 13, each artist welcome and invite neighbors and friends to join in the cultural scene and share in a sense of community.
From the Flower Mound Area, artists include Janet Alexander, a fine art jeweler, Sweety Bowman, known for her clay and bronze pieces, Alton Bowman, specializing in high quality furniture, Barbara Oliver Hartman, a fiber artist and quilt maker, Karen Jacobi, a watercolorist and mosaic artist, and Anita Robbins, contemporary fine art painter.
From the Highland Village area, artists displaying their talents are Linda Chidsey, noted for her jewelry, pottery, and wall art, Gaye Kelly, still life and figurative painter, Deb Kreimborg, showcasing her photogravure portfolio, Love Letters, Linda Pomeroy, muralist and painter donating her proceeds to charity, and Mary Ellen Wehrli, contemporary fine art painter.
Lewisville artist Dianne Hicks will share her watercolor and collage artwork. Copper Canyon residents Eddie Charba, a noted woodturner, and Marie Klotz, silver jeweler and pottery maker, share their artistic talents. Marsha Byus from Bartonville previews her fused glass art pieces.
Providing a platform for art education in a neighborhood setting, each artist looks forward to sharing their art, knowledge and talent with their communities.

MOAA meeting
On Nov. 9 the North DFW Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America will host a general membership meeting at the DFW Airport Marriott Hotel, 8440 Freeport Parkway in Irving. Social hour begins at 6 p.m. and a dinner will be served at 7 p.m.
Members, visitors and spouses welcome. Members and visitors attending are current, retired and former commissioned and warrant officers of the seven uniformed services - Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and their surviving spouses.

Women of Flower Mound
The Women of Flower Mound Shop Til You Drop meeting is set for Nov. 8 at Bridlewood Golf Club. The event will feature local vendors with crafts and items to buy. It starts at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting includes door prizes and a delicious dinner.
RSVP at womenofflowermound.org by Nov. 3 to get the discounted timely RSVP dinner rate of $15 for members. RSVPs received after that date,pricing at the door, and the guest rate will be at the full price of $20.
Credit card payments include an extra $1 to cover the merchant fees incurred for processing credit cards. Guests are welcome, and you don't have to live in Flower Mound to join or attend.
Strengthening Lives
From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 5, the community is invited to participate in a multi-faceted service project hosted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints benefitting local blood banks, CCA Food Pantry and the area homeless.

The event will be held at the LDS church, 3882 Quail Run in Flower Mound.
Power Surge event
Grace Baptist Church will host Power Surge, an event of food, games, prizes and character building, from 7-8 p.m. Nov. 13-15 at the church, 3200 Firewheel Drive. The event is for children in grades six through 12. Prizes include a Droid tablet and a shopping spree.

Visual Art League
A new members' show, "On the Move," will run through Nov. 19 at the MCL Grand in Lewisville. Opening reception is from 6-9 p.m. Saturday.
Barbara Barnett, Valarie Corwin and Colleen Drew will be exhibiting at Tierney's Café & Tavern through Nov. 6. Tierney's Café & Tavern is located at 208 Main Street in Lewisville.
Colleen Drew will be exhibiting her photography during October at the Lewisville State Bank. The bank's lobby hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. The bank is located at 191 Main Street in Lewisville.
Darla Bostic will give a watercolor demonstration on tissue paper from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in classroom No. 3 in the MCL Grand building. This event is open to the public and there is no charge.

Greater Lewisville Newcomers Club
The Greater Lewisville Newcomers Club meets at 9:30 a.m. every third Wednesday of each month at Lewisville Church of Christ, 901 College Parkway in Lewisville.

Casino night
The Flower Mound Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association will host a casino night from 7-10 p.m. Nov. 5.
The FMCPAAA has announced a partnership with Pinewood Hills Retirement Community as its host sponsor.
The event will take place in the main portion of Pinewood Hills located at 3901 Kirkpatrick Lane. The event will feature professionally trained dealers from Casino Connection of Grapevine.
Tickets are $35 each and include dinner and two drinks, basic gambling stake for the night and at least one chance at all the prizes. Proceeds from the event are earmarked to purchase new Stinger DS flashlights for every officer of the FMPD. These flashlights are an unbudgeted item that will increase officer safety in a number of operational environments. Tickets to the event are limited to the first 125 respondents.
There are still sponsorship opportunities available. Community partners can secure a table sponsorship for a mere $200 investment.
Headquartered in Flower Mound, the FMCPAAA is a 501c(3) organization with the mission to promote understanding between the community and the Flower Mound Police Department, and to aid and assist the police department, the Town, and the citizens in promoting and supporting projects and programs for the betterment of the community and its citizens. t

Preschool registration
Pre-registration for the 2011-12 school year is open at the Early Childhood Ministry Preschool at Lamb of God Lutheran Church for children ages 2 through kindergarten age.
ECM, located at 1401 Cross Timbers Road, welcomes all children, not only members of LOG, to pre-register.

Every Sunday of the year the public is welcome to attend an 8 a.m. traditional service; 10:30 a.m. blended service; and 9:15 a.m. Sunday School at LOG.
Anyone who has box tops, Campbell's soup, Community Coffee or Tyson symbols they would like to donate may place them in a container in the church atrium. The preschool accepts those symbols year-round to raise money for school supplies.
'God Provides' study
First Presbyterian Church of Lewisville will be hosting "God Provides," a six-week study with short films and a companion guide for group discussion. The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays.
The program and babysitting are free. The first 80 residents who make reservations will also receive a free dinner, starting at 6:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome; however, reservations are required for the babysitting service and dinner.

Voices of Flower Mound
The Voices of Flower Mound is a no-audition, mixed community chorus, directed by Mary McGuyer. Selections are normally popular tunes from radio, television, musical theater or movies, as well as seasonal favorites. Voices of Flower Mound performs major concerts in May and December each year, plus additional performances for special occasions such as July 4, Veterans Day, etc.
Rehearsals take place every Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. in the choir room at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church, 6101 Morriss Road.
The Voices of Flower Mound also has a junior choir, for ages 7 through middle school, which rehearses Tuesdays from 6:15 to 7 p.m. in the same location.
