July 4th activities
Little Elm
The town of Little Elm hosts its annual July Jubilee celebration beginning at 5 p.m. on July 4 at Little Elm Park. There will be musical entertainment, food and merchandise vendors. Fireworks begin at dark. There is limited on-site parking. Shuttle parking will be available at the LEISD Athletic Complex. For information call Missy Meador at 972-731-3296.
Oak Point
Celina
The fifth annual Celina Balloon Festival will be held June 25 and 26 in Old Celina Park at 12670 FM 428 in Celina. Hours of events will be 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday. There will be barbecue, live music and a balloon glow. Saturday hours are 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. There will be local entertainment, balloon lift-offs, balloon glow, live music and a fireworks display. For information call the Greater Celina Chamber of Commerce at 972-382-3300.
Weston
The city of Weston will hold its annual 4th of July parade on July 3. The parade starts at 10 a.m. in Weston. Bake sale and cold drinks will be available. Parade categories include cars/trucks, motorcycles, floats, walkers, bicycles, wagons, kids' vehicles, horses, buggies and carts, tractors and 4-wheelers, Go-karts and lawnmowers. No fees or registration is required. Line up at 8:30 to 9 a.m.. Judging begins at 9 a.m. Line-up map can be obtained by emailing cityhall@ci.weston.tx.us.
Gunter
4th of July in the Park will take place in Gunter City Park from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on July 4. Fireworks will happen at 9:45 p.m. There will be a flag ceremony and a decorated bike parade and free games for the kids. The Gunter High School band will play. There will be live music and dancing before the fireworks. There will be an 18-foot inflated water slide with a pool at the bottom. 25 vendors will be there and booth space is still available. Frisco
Frisco's annual Freedom Fest begins at 4 p.m. and finishes with a 20-minute firework display on July 3 in Simpson Plaza at Frisco City Hall. The community stage will feature homegrown dancers, singers, and bands. The Children's Expo features jump houses, face painting, strolling entertainers and games. The Hometown Heroes Exhibit showcases Frisco's finest, the men and women of the police and fire departments, along with the equipment they use to help keep the community safe. The Taste of Frisco will have treats from several Frisco restaurants. Don't forget to check out the FC Dallas soccer game and concert at Pizza Hut Park across Main Street from Simpson Plaza. The Fireworks Extravaganza begins at about 9:45 p.m. Fireworks are visible around Frisco City Hall and Pizza Hut Park.
