Webb announces candidacy for town council

Less than a week after Jean Levenick announced she will not seek re-election on the Flower Mound Town Council, a candidate has emerged to run for her seat.
Bryan Webb announced Monday that he will run for Place 4.
Webb, who has lived in Flower Mound for four years, serves on the town’s planning and zoning commission but has also served on the oil and gas board of appeals, the board of adjustment and the transportation commission.
Webb said, if elected, he has three main priorities, such as building a balanced tax base for a strong, sustainable future.
“The town council leadership that we have now has done a good job of attracting development,” Webb said. “The FM 2499 corridor is looking great, we have feelers out in Lakeside and we have a plan for west of Hwy. 377. I want to continue that. It’s exciting to see developers approach the town.”
Webb, a manager for credit risk management, said other goals are to “support and strengthen our strong oil and gas ordinances” “and to support the ideals that established the Master Plan and SMARTGrowth.”
“Protecting our citizens, preserving our community and all the things that make Flower Mound special and encouraging development are not mutually exclusive,” he said. “They are critical to our future.”
Before his time in Flower Mound, Webb lived in Lewisville, where he served on various boards and commissions as well. He was chairman of the Blue Ribbon Bond Committee and was chairman of the planning and zoning commission. He was also on the city’s transportation board and zoning board of adjustment.
Webb said those experiences also make him a good candidate to serve on town council.
“Anything you learn somewhere else, you look to apply that when you face future problems,” Webb said. “I served on (Lewisville’s) P&Z when we were in the beginning phases of revitalizing Old Town. I saw how expensive it is to ignore a neighborhood for a long period of time. Flower Mound has wonderful neighborhoods, and we need to maintain the strength of our neighborhoods. Properties need to be maintained through code enforcement, and we need to identify individuals who need help in maintaining their property.”
