Police offering reward for Lakeside burglary information

Published: Wednesday, September 10, 2008 12:30 PM CDT
A recent string of burglaries has prompted the Flower Mound Police Department to enact its reward program for help catching the suspects.

The department is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the individuals involved in four burglaries between noon and 3:30 p.m. Aug. 30 in the Lakeside Business District.

According to a press release sent by the police department, two black males wearing stockings over their heads used tire irons and their feet to break through the front doors at four businesses in the district. The release stated that more than $12,000 in items were taken.

The release stated that LCD computer monitors, speakers, laptop computers, printers, and various other items were stolen from businesses located between the 800 and 1500 blocks of Lakeside Parkway.

Similar offenses were reported in Lewisville, Grapevine and Coppell. However, it is unknown if these offenses are related.

Police urge anyone with tips to call the non-emergency police number at 972-539-0525 to submit their information and receive an anonymous tip code.

The program was implemented to help police catch a suspect who was believed to have robbed several pharmacies in the area from March to late July.

The program was used again in late August to help police catch the suspects in two other burglaries. According to police reports, a glass door at Flower Mound High School was broken June 3, and suspects entered the school, causing more than $18,000 damage to the interior of the building.

On July 13, according to the report, four businesses extending from the 2600 block to the 3300 block of Long Prairie Road were burglarized. More than $5,000 in damage and stolen property was reported.

An arrest was made in the pharmacy robbery case, but police wouldn’t indicate if the reward program was a factor in the arrest. The status of the other two robberies were unknown as of press time.
